Emily O’Carroll

Vice President

I have nearly 20 years combined experience in cybersecurity and IT governance, risk and compliance. I started my career as an intern at KPMG in the IT Advisory practice in San Diego and spent the next 10 years honing my skills and mastering execution of consulting engagements for clients across diverse industries including Fortune 50 clients headquartered in San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Chicago. Areas of expertise and focus for these consulting engagements included IT Audit (SOX, J-SOX, FSA), IT and Cyber Attestation (SOC 1 previously SAS 70, SOC 2 and 3 previously WebTrust and SysTrust, PKI assessments, etc.), IAM for ERPs (Oracle, SAP, and Netsuite), and moved into cybersecurity consulting in the Bay Area in 2009. I left KPMG in 2015 as a Director leading global, diverse teams of up to 15 team members, and joined Callaway Golf, now Topgolf Callaway Brands, as their Head of Global Information Security and IT Compliance (CISO). When I joined Callaway, I was a team of one with support from consultants, 3rd parties, and IT. Over my 9+ years with Topgolf Callaway Brands, we expanded the team including building out a seasoned leadership team and offshore support team totaling 34 team members globally supporting 5 major global brands and 25,000 users globally covering areas of Information Security (Architecture, Engineering, and Operations), Application Security, IAM, and IT Risk and Compliance. I am incredibly proud of all that our team accomplished during my tenure as the CISO at Topgolf Callaway Brands, and it was bittersweet to move on to a new opportunity this year. I am spending some well deserved time with my family this summer before moving back into consulting as a Field CISO for GuidePoint Security in the fall. Mentoring and advocating for underserved populations and youth has been a passion and motivator for me throughout my career. I look forward to the opportunity to expand ISSA's reach to the community and promote inclusivity in my role as the Education Director.

DARIUS YEUNG

Corresponding Secretary

University of San Diego Graduate - Class of 2025 with a M.S. in Cybersecurity Engineering. I have around 2-3 years of experience as a cybersecurity analyst at the Center of Cyber Security and Technology at the University of San Diego and most recently as a cybersecurity analyst intern at Vuori. Through these experiences, I find myself specializing in risk management and vulnerability analysis and eventually emphasizing AI security.

I have been very fortunate and really grateful to be where I am currently, with my accelerated learning of cybersecurity as a whole and as a current Corresponding Secretary at the SD ISSA leadership team.

Back in 8th grade in middle school is where this all started for me. Through my involvement as a CyberPatriot member during middle and high school, I knew that being in the cybersecurity field was the calling for me. I started pursuing that pathway by taking college classes during high school and accelerated my way towards getting a B.S. in Computer Science and a M.S. in Cybersecurity Engineering within 4 years of college.

September 2024 marked an important milestone for me. That was when I first started going out and networking with valuable cyber professionals and folks just like me. Since then, it’s been a pleasure for me to be more involved in the San Diego cyber community by volunteering at local events, sharing ideas to old and new connections alike, and helping them get to where they need to be.

I look forward to serving you all and to keep on paying my gratitude forward for the better in this evolving San Diego community!

Hope to see you all around and connect more at a future event!

Danielle Gunn

Program Co-Director

I have spent more than twenty years working at the intersection of IT, cybersecurity and human safety. My career began in 2005 at Apple, where I sold products while studying Fine Art at the University of Colorado Denver with the goal of creating concept art for games, TV and film. After excelling in sales I moved to the Genius Bar and became one of the first femme presenting technicians in a large U.S. store, at a time when few women held technical roles.

After Apple I consulted for higher education, startups, luxury retail and local government. A stint in healthcare sparked a strong interest in data protection and HIPAA compliance, guiding me toward security focused work. In 2016 I joined the newly formed Information Security team for the City and County of Denver as one of its first SOC analysts. I earned a CISSP in 2017 and helped design the city’s security workflows, vulnerability management, CMDB, certificate renewal process, vendor management and core GRC programs. During the COVID 19 pandemic and while coping with a personal health issue in 2020 I served as deputy InfoSec Operations Manager for the Emergency Operations Center and completed a master’s in IT Management from Western Governors University.

Since 2018 I have been active in the Denver ISSA chapter, moved to San Diego in 2023 and joined the San Diego ISSA chapter in spring 2025. My most recent corporate role was InfoSec Engineering Manager for a Fortune 150 auto retailer. In late 2025 I founded Gunship Studios, a consulting firm and MSP that specializes in data privacy architecture and cyber resilience. Today I am developing a consumer focused app that teaches data privacy, hygiene and cybersecurity, aiming to lower the average person’s digital footprint and technical debt. When I am not working I enjoy spending time outdoors and surfing.
